The lands of Bhanlor were scarred by spells gone awry. Legions of undead started spawning in the regions where death magic had permeated the fabric of reality. Attracted by the decay of the land, demons and devils were leaving the Abyss to roam the battlefields in search of new victims. Only a handful of wizards, sorcerers and clerics could hope to stop and, possibly turn, the tide of evil encroaching upon the Material Plane.

We’ve learned there’s a rat in our midst, by the name of Tom. He’s leaking valuable information. We know that for a fact, but don’t have proof. Your task is to spy him out and discover who he is singing for. I think he’s going to a meet tonight. You’ll follow him quietly. Just be careful that he doesn’t see you – he’s extremely cautious. After you find out the identity of his connection, bump him off and the other guy, too, for good measure.

Bad sectors on the disk, other faulty hardware, or software bugs can corrupt the file system and put files in a problematic state. Typical operations may fail in a variety of ways. When the file system detects corruption, it logs an event to the event log and you typically receive a message that prompts you to run Chkdsk. Depending on the nature of the corruption, Chkdsk may or may not be able to recover file data; however, Chkdsk returns the file system to an internally consistent state.

Scary find in developing area: Building owner discovers a skeleton whilst inspecting his future cellar. Obviously, it is about a woman who had vanished without a trace from Tellytown years ago, police spokesman Jack Hollow reports. “The investigations are still running. The tooth cast of the skeleton conincides with the casts, which we have received by the dentist of the vanished woman. A gene test has still to be made though”, the policeman explains. The woman had popped off to get some cigarettes at a garden party years ago. She hadn’t been seen afterwards ever again.

Because I’m a sucker for a good-looking operating system in beta, I downloaded and installed the publicly-available Beta 2 of the next generation of Windows, called Vista, this weekend.
Now, Microsoft says only developers, testers and those “experienced in PC troubleshooting” should install this on a spare machine. But I’m young, stupid and reckless so I installed Vista on my main PC which is the only machine I have souped up enough to handle the Vistage. I didn’t want to let go of XP, though, in case everything went to hell. Thankfully all turned out well: I now have a single dual-boot PC that can run either Vista or XP.
